If you’re like most people, you probably use Instagram to document your life and share photos of your friends and family. But if you want to change your profile picture on the app, there are a few things you need to know. First, go to the account settings and select “Profile Picture.” Then, under “Description,” set a new description that reflects who you are as a person. For example, if you’re a professional photographer, describe yourself as such in your description. Next, set up some filters to help improve your photo quality. For example, try using a low-light or HDR setting to make your photos look more realistic. And if you want to add some personality to your account, consider using one of the many stickers or emojis available on Instagram.

Got a new look and want to show it off to your Instagram followers? You’re in luck. Instagram makes it easy to change your profile picture, and we’ll show you how to do it on both the Instagram site and the mobile app.

Change Your Instagram Profile Picture in the Mobile App

On your iPhone or Android phone, use the Instagram app to update your profile picture.

To start, first, launch the Instagram app on your phone. In the app, from the bar at the bottom, select the profile icon (which is the last icon in that row).

You will reach your profile screen. Here, beneath your profile details, tap the “Edit Profile” option.

On the “Edit Profile” page, beneath your current profile picture, tap “Change Profile Photo.”

From the bottom of your app, Instagram will open a “Change Profile Photo” menu.

If you want to replace your profile picture with a picture saved on your phone, tap “New Profile Photo” in the menu. To add a photo from your Facebook profile, tap “Import from Facebook.”

We’ll choose the “New Profile Photo” option.

Instagram will open your phone’s gallery. Here, select the photo that you’d like to make your profile picture on Instagram. When you select a photo, the app will display editing options.

Optionally, edit your photo.

Then, at the top-right corner of the edit screen, tap the right-arrow icon.

Instagram will take you to your profile page, and you will see your new profile picture there. You’re all set.

To make things even more interesting, consider changing the fonts for your Instagram profile.

Change Your Instagram Profile Picture on Desktop

On a Windows, Mac, Linux, or Chromebook computer, use the Instagram site to change your profile picture.

To start, launch a web browser on your computer and access the Instagram site. Log in to your account if you aren’t already.

On the Instagram site, from the top-right corner, select your profile icon.

From the menu that opens after clicking your profile icon, select “Settings.”

On the settings page, from the sidebar on the left, choose “Edit Profile.”

On the right pane, under your Instagram username, click “Change Profile Photo.”

In the “Change Profile Photo” prompt that opens, select “Upload Photo.”

Your computer’s standard “open file” window will open. In this window, navigate to the folder that has your new picture and select the picture.

And instantly, Instagram will add your newly selected picture to your profile. Now, sit back, relax, and let the feedback for your new picture come in!
